Our firm is accepting resumes for entry level accountant positions.  The opportunity we have available is an audit position in our Payroll Compliance Department. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, can multi-task, and has exceptional analytical and computer skills. Duties:

  • Take initiative and direction in working with the staff of our Payroll Compliance Department, including the department Manager, Senior accountant, and other staff accountants on the engagements assigned;
  • Conducting agreed-upon procedure engagements (compliance audits) for AZLA employee benefit plan and Union clients. This includes preparation of supporting workpapers and writing an engagement report;
  • Travel to client offices in the Western New York region, as well as to various locations across New York State, to perform compliance audits. Individual compliance audits generally last one day. Travel is primarily in one or two day increments, but may be as long as three or four days;
  • Assist with payroll audit administrative duties as necessary;
  • Assist in conducting engagements for a wide range of clients including Employee Benefit plans, small, closely held businesses and Not-For-Profit Organizations as needed;
  • Participate in and add to our collaborative environment.
  • Education and Experience
  • Associates or Bachelors in Accounting.
  • Required Skills/Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a paperless environment and possess excellent computer skills, including experience in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook is preferred, but not required;
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance, as well as independent transportation to and from ALES’s office and to and from client offices to perform onsite audits;
  • Must possess the ability to work effectively with clients and all levels of staff;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required and must be detail oriented;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and time management.
